BROOKLYN, NEW YORK — Soca artist Jadel has received her second citation in New York, adding another official recognition to her growing list of career milestones.

The latest honor was issued by New York City Public Advocate Jumaane D. Williams and is dated September 3, 2026. The citation recognizes Jadel for her “exceptional artistry, dedication, and inspiring contributions to the community at large” on the occasion of Blocko Mania.

Although Jadel was scheduled to perform at Blocko Mania, circumstances beyond her control prevented her from attending or taking the stage. The citation nevertheless reflected the years of work that came before that night, including seven WIADCA performances over the past five years.

To Jadel’s surprise, the honor still found its way to her.

The following evening, September 4, while attending Soca Fest in Brooklyn, Jadel was personally presented with the citation by Roger Archibald, President of the West Indian American Day Carnival Association (WIADCA).

The presentation took place during Soca Fest, which featured Caribbean stars including Bunji Garlin and Kes the Band, turning what began as a night of attendance into an unexpected career moment for Jadel.

Recognition Built Over Years

For Jadel, the citation represents much more than one scheduled appearance.

Her relationship with WIADCA and New York’s Caribbean entertainment community has been built through years of continued participation, including seven WIADCA performances across five years.

While she was unable to perform during this year’s Blocko Mania, the recognition demonstrated that her previous contributions had not gone unnoticed.

The honor also marks Jadel’s second citation received in New York, distinguishing it from the separate citation she received only weeks earlier.

Rather than recognizing a single performance, the September 2026 honor reflects the consistency, artistry and dedication Jadel has demonstrated through years of appearances and involvement within New York’s Caribbean cultural community.

A Surprise Presentation at Soca Fest

The moment carried additional meaning because Jadel had not expected to receive the citation that evening.

She attended Soca Fest without performing, only to be personally handed an official recognition of the work she had already contributed over the years.

For an artist whose planned appearance at Blocko Mania did not happen this year, the presentation served as a reminder that the work already done still mattered.

Jadel may not have taken the stage for WIADCA in 2026, but the years she had already spent contributing to New York’s Caribbean entertainment community were still recognized.

Jardine Cherelle Legere, known professionally as Jadel, is an independent recording artist, singer, songwriter, pianist, entrepreneur, and proud mother from the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. She followed with standout releases including "Round N Round," "Dominate," and "Jam Day," which secured her a place in the International Soca Monarch Semifinals. During this period, she also shared the stage with Kes The Band at New York City's iconic Best Buy Theater.

In 2020, Jadel signed with JP Music Group, a division of Julianspromos Worldwide led by Julian Hackett, and released her debut album, Call Me Jadel. The project introduced her signature blend of Soca and contemporary Caribbean sounds, featuring fan favorites such as "Dominate," "Round N Round," "Jam Day," and "Hold Me Close," while surpassing two million streams.

Her international profile accelerated with "Deserve It All," which became her biggest streaming success, earning more than seven million streams worldwide and receiving support from BET Jams and MTV. The song firmly established Jadel as one of Soca's emerging global voices.

Jadel has since expanded her catalog with "Yuh Man," "Up In The Party," "Shake Up" featuring Demarco, "Doh Ease Meh Up," "Addictive" featuring Charly Black, "Calypso," "Jam Somebody," "Meh Darlin," "Bubbling Champion" featuring DJ Private Ryan, and "Fitness" featuring Trinidad Killa. Her sophomore album, Don't Be Mistaken (2024), showcased her versatility while surpassing one million streams and earning prominent Times Square billboard promotion.

As a live performer, Jadel has appeared at more than 100 major events while touring extensively throughout the Caribbean, North America, Europe, and Asia. Her performances have taken her to St. Kitts, Antigua, London, Toronto, New York, Miami, Singapore, Belize, Japan, Malta, Switzerland, and Germany. Along the way, she has received multiple Caribbean Music Award nominations, including Female Soca Artist of the Year and Impact Soca Artist of the Year.
