Jadel proud of her consistency as an artiste
Jam Somebody is her biggest release this year. She said it encompassed the idea of Carnival.
“Carnival is about freedom. There’s no restrictions at any time, no limitations. Anybody could get a wine or a jam. Anybody could take win.”
Meh Darlin is a groovy love song on the Hard Jam riddim that shows her versatility. It is a melodious song about a crush and the experience of falling in love which, she said, people loved to sing along to.
The other songs are Fitness with Trinidad Killa, a power song about getting in shape for the road on the Her Mudda riddim; Remote, a song with dance instructions on the Big Road riddim; and Bubblin Champion, a club song written by DJ Private Ryan.
Fast 5 with Jadel - HER Weekly Magazine
Singer Jadel (Jardine Le Gere) wraps up our Carnival feature 'Fast 5'. Thanks to all the incredible women Destra, Nadia, Nailah Blackman, Amrika Mutroo - who came along for the ride.
Her Magazine (HM) - Which fetes have you performed at for the season?
Jadel - Soka in Moka, Sokah Origins, Black 2 Blue, Xperience Fete, Party With The Hearts, Straight Out of Belmont, Out in South, QRC Fete Royal, I Love Choka, Nurses Fete, Soca Takeover and much more.
Her Magazine (HM) - What are the names of your 2024 Carnival releases?
Jadel - Just to name a few, 'Doh Ease Meh Up' was my first release for 2024. It was written by AdvoKit and was influenced by the sweet groovy soca some may remember from the late 2000s; that was a period of soca I loved.
We wanted to tap into that style of sweetness.
Jadel rides Calypso wave
“Calypso (music) is a style I’ve never done before. The song is highlighting my love for my home, my love for Trinidad and Tobago. It’s a song about the beauty and culture of TT, showcasing the food, sites, mas, the beaches, the pan, etc.
“Being a true Trini, that is something I’ve been missing and calypso is something I’ve always wanted to do. I love calypso, I love the melodies, I love the topics.
"And, for my calypso, I didn’t want a controversial topic. I wanted a patriotic calypso song highlighting my beautiful land and inviting people to visit.”
