“Calypso (music) is a style I’ve never done before. The song is highlighting my love for my home, my love for Trinidad and Tobago. It’s a song about the beauty and culture of TT, showcasing the food, sites, mas, the beaches, the pan, etc.
“Being a true Trini, that is something I’ve been missing and calypso is something I’ve always wanted to do. I love calypso, I love the melodies, I love the topics.
"And, for my calypso, I didn’t want a controversial topic. I wanted a patriotic calypso song highlighting my beautiful land and inviting people to visit.”
Jadel Brings Caribbean Energy to Japan
The Port of Spain-born soca siren recently took her hybrid soca sound to Tokyo, Japan for the Soca in Japan Carnival festival.
The “Up In D Party” singer performed at the world famous HARLEM club in Shibuya City, known as the mecca for Japanese hip-hop and R&B culture.

Jadel Earns Caribbean Music Awards Nomination
Trinidad & Tobago recording artist Jadel was recognized on the international stage with a nomination for Impact Award (Soca) at the 2023 Caribbean Music Awards, celebrating her growing influence and contribution to Caribbean music.
Held at the iconic Kings Theatre in Brooklyn, New York, the Caribbean Music Awards honor outstanding artists, producers, and industry professionals from across the region. Jadel's nomination reflected the momentum she had built through a string of successful releases and energetic performances that resonated with audiences throughout the Caribbean and its diaspora.
Jadel Experiences Jamaica Carnival for the First Time
Trinidad & Tobago soca artist Jadel recently marked a major career milestone by experiencing Jamaica Carnival for the very first time, combining performance opportunities, cultural exploration, and meaningful connections with fans throughout the island.
Widely recognized for her energetic performances and growing international presence, Jadel traveled to Jamaica during Carnival season to immerse herself in one of the Caribbean's premier celebrations. The visit provided an opportunity to experience the country's vibrant culture firsthand while continuing to expand her reach throughout the region.
One of the standout moments of the trip was participating in the official Bacchanal Jamaica Road March with the renowned Xodus Carnival Band. Jadel took to the road in the band's "Red Whine" section, wearing a stunning costume designed by Anna. Surrounded by thousands of revelers, she embraced the full Carnival experience while celebrating Caribbean music and culture.
Jadel moves from strength to strength
Soca singer Jardine "Jadel" Legere’s song Deserve It All has racked up 4.2 million views on YouTube. The singer said this is because it’s been featured on MTV Base Africa and BET Jams. Her Carnival season has been packed and she’s looking forward to travelling abroad in April to perform.
The singer said Deserve It All is the only soca song to be featured on BET Jams, and led to her receiving several opportunities and offers for collaboration.
“It started with the video being shared a lot, and then I started getting messages from African artistes asking for collaboration, only to find out that it was on MTV Base Africa. The video reached a million views in three weeks, within two months it had two million views, and then BET Jams picked it up as well. I only found out when someone sent me the video.”
Jadel said she believed the song is popular because it was a diversion from her usual style.
A silver lining for Jadel
For many local entertainers the emergence of COVID-19 weighed like a wet blanket on their career, however, for Jardine “Jadel” Cherelle Legere it was the silver lining to her cloud.
The upcoming entertainer with guidance from her management team took that time to identify where she is going, explore her competence and land the right song to win the favour of being featured on the BET and MTV channels.
Jadel became known in many households as and earned a spot on the soca monarch stage in 2018 with the soca song Round N Round. Her eight-year stint in the industry has also earned her airtime on international platforms, with the song Deserve it All; an anthem to woman power.
She believes she has grown as a person and has more virtues to be thankful for when she became a mother.
“When COVID happened, my management advised me to use this as an opportunity to be myself, to highlight my vocals without facing judgment or fear of not having it accepted…When my music video for Deserve It All was released, my manager Julian Hackett of JP Music Group handled the digital distribution, they believed the quality was strong enough to be pitched to MTV base and it was instantly accepted and was very popular within South Africa.
