Jadel Honored with New York City Council Citation in Brooklyn

The Trinidad and Tobago female Soca artist received the recognition during Amazing J’Ouvert’s “The Art Form” launch in Brooklyn, New York.

BROOKLYN, NEW YORK, August 9, 2026 – Jadel was honored with a New York City Council Citation during Amazing J’Ouvert’s “The Art Form” launch in Brooklyn on Saturday, August 8.

The citation, dated August 8, 2026, recognizes Jadel for her achievements, service and positive contribution to the community, describing her as an “outstanding citizen” worthy of the esteem of both the community and the City of New York.

For Jadel, the moment carried a meaning beyond the recognition itself.

“Being honored with a New York City Council Citation is such a surreal and humbling feeling. It’s bigger than the recognition though. Using your gifts to pour back into a community, uplift people and do something good with what you’ve been blessed with will always matter. I’m forever grateful for this one,” said Jadel.

Receiving the citation during Amazing J’Ouvert’s “The Art Form” launch made the occasion especially meaningful, connecting the honor with the Caribbean culture and community that have remained central to Jadel’s journey.

Born and raised in Trinidad and Tobago, Jadel grew up immersed in Soca, Calypso and Carnival culture. As her career has expanded internationally, she has continued representing Trinidad and Tobago while building connections with Caribbean communities around the world.

The Brooklyn honor comes during another active year for the female Soca artist.

Just days earlier, Jadel returned to the Toronto area for Summer of Soca Festival’s Colours J’Ouvert Night during Toronto Carnival weekend. Performing before more than 2,000 attendees, she delivered a high-energy set and debuted her latest single, “Call Me,” live for the first time.

Her New York City Council Citation now adds a meaningful community recognition to a year that continues to bring new music, performances and international milestones.

For Jadel, however, the message behind the moment remains simple: success is about more than what you receive. It is also about how you use your talents and platform to give back.
